Why Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are fearful of Red Bull run ending in Singapore

Why Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are fearful of Red Bull run ending in Singapore

Red Bull have been dominating the Formula One season so far, with Max Verstappen leading the drivers’ championship and Sergio Perez providing valuable support. The team have won seven out of the last nine races, including a stunning double podium in Monza. However, their impressive run could come to an end in Singapore, where they face a tough challenge from their rivals.

Singapore is a street circuit that requires high downforce, good traction and precise handling. These are not the strengths of the Red Bull car, which is more suited to fast and flowing tracks. In contrast, Mercedes and Ferrari have traditionally performed well in Singapore, with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel winning four times each.

Verstappen and Perez are aware of the threat posed by their competitors, and have expressed their concerns ahead of the race. Verstappen said:

“Singapore is always a difficult race for us. It’s very hot and humid, and the track is very demanding. We have to work hard to find the right balance and setup for the car. Mercedes and Ferrari are very strong there, so we have to be on top of our game.”

Perez echoed his teammate’s sentiments, saying:

“Singapore is one of the toughest races of the year. It’s very long, very physical and very technical. You have to be very careful with the walls and the kerbs, and avoid any mistakes. We know that our car is not the best for this track, but we will try to maximise our potential and score as many points as possible.”

Red Bull will hope to minimise the damage in Singapore, and maintain their lead in both championships. They will also look forward to the next races in Russia and Turkey, where they expect to be more competitive. However, they cannot afford to be complacent, as Mercedes and Ferrari will not give up without a fight.
