7 CIT armed robbers pull off insane heist in Tembisa, police retaliate with this action

A shocking incident of cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery took place in Tembisa, Gauteng, on Monday morning. Seven armed robbers attacked a CIT vehicle and managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of money. However, their escape was short-lived as the police swiftly responded and tracked them down.

According to the police spokesperson, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, the robbers used explosives to blow up the CIT vehicle and then opened fire at the security guards. The guards returned fire but were overpowered by the robbers who took the cash boxes and sped off in a white Toyota Quantum.

The police were alerted and immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects. They traced the getaway vehicle to a nearby informal settlement where they found it abandoned with some of the cash boxes inside. The police also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition.

The police then followed the trail of the robbers and cornered them in another informal settlement where a shootout ensued. Four of the robbers were fatally wounded and three were arrested. The police also recovered more cash boxes, firearms and explosives from the scene.

Brigadier Peters praised the police for their swift and decisive action that resulted in the recovery of most of the stolen money and the arrest of the suspects. She said that the police will not tolerate such brazen attacks on CIT vehicles and will ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
